Corpse Party: part 1

I am a lover of the occult,

    This year I got to play so many games in the stream, this series is an amazing set of games. The first game Corpse Party, leaves you wanting more. So much so that you start to purposively get the bad ends just because you want to know how the story would deviate. In hell school or Heavenly Host Elementary where your most hellish nightmares come to life.

    The start of the game makes you believe that these kids are united in their friendship with tight bonds, as the game progresses; however, you realize just how fragile their bond truly is. With the exception of Satoshi and his sister, Yuka regarding their relationship. All of the characters go through trails of not only self-assurance and bravery but how they feel deep inside. If the characters have even the slightest bit of doubt they subcome to something called the darkening.

    While in the darkening mode the characters do things that are not part of their normal attitudes, for instance, Naomi and Saiko are best friends who have been together from what you understand is forever. Their relationship seems to be more than friends, except for the fact that Naomi is really into Satoshi. Because they are stuck in a very scary place Saiko tries her best to keep the mood light, while Naomi loses all sense of self, and calm. This causes the characters to go through some really messed up occurrences that in the end leave Saiko hanging from her neck in an empty rotting bathroom stall, and all that is because of you, or rather Namoi whom you are playing as at the time.

    The game ensures that you fall in love with each and every character and then it takes you through a rollercoaster of emotions. where you care in one hand loving a sympathizing with the characters to another where you hate them for everything that they are. This was the case for me and Ayumi, the way in which her character became twisted just made her unbearable, I also have an issue with Marry Sue like characters or characters that are whinny.

Play Value

    You will waste away playing this game and trying to get all of the endings, and extras and bonuses. If you are going to pick it up, just keep in mind that though it looks cute the imagery used is gruesome, the time spend in each chapter is long and there is a lot of reading. The story makes it all worth it, though it might be a bit much to take in a first. This is just one of the 5 games that are part of this franchise.

In all I would definitely recommend this game because you can get many hours out of it, play it at night while is dark and you have your headphones on, you won't regret it.
